In an effort to save money a lot of people are choosing to take a plane or train rather than hop in that old fashioned car and take a road trip. While that might be the best alternative to those that are looking to save a bit of money, it might not be the best alternative for those that are looking for fun and excitement.

There are many things that a person misses out on when they fly instead of take a car ride to their destination. Here are some of the items that they are missing out on when they take that plane instead of driving.

1. Sights. There are so many different views and sights that a person sees when they take a road trip instead of flying. You can see corn fields, grass, mountains, hills, flowers, farms and a number of other things that you wouldn’t normally see if you were flying. When you fly everything looks the same from the birds eye view that you get.

2. Interesting Attractions. If you fly you will never get to stop at the world’s largest yarn ball, or the big rat or other odd attractions that are on the way of some road trips. Some of the best parts of road trips are the little side trips that can be taken. You miss out on that when you fly as there are no side trips except for an airport.

3. Family Bonding. There is just something about taking a road trip with a friend of family member that allows you to bond together. When you fly it is a bit impersonal and doesn’t allow you to make those great lasting memories. Taking a road trip you can build so many memories that it will last you a lifetime and you’ll be sharing the funny stories for years to come.
