Barcelona Fashion Show; Future BMWs You Can Wear

It’s not unbelievable, considering some of the technology we have today, but it isn’t attractive and it doesn’t look comfortable. In fact, anyone who wears it will stand out in a crowd, for sure. What is it?
In Barcelona at the recent gala at the Rambla Catalunya students of automotive design and fashion design got together to collaborate on projects that could fall under the title, “Suits That Transport.” Yes, suits that transport, or clothing that takes the wearer places.
The first one shown looks something like a wetsuit with a BMW logo on the front shoulder, but it’s black with a white design and a color-coordinated, very aerodynamic-looking intelligent visor that delivers pertinent information (speed, temperature, backup camera, etc.) that only the wearer can see. It comes with matching shoes that look something like tight-fitting water-boots that roll on large ball-bearings, making walking a faster, less-exerting way to travel. No idea on the price, yet.
Another suit of transport is pure white and has a BMW emblem centered on the top of the exoskeleton-looking covers that come down to the sides for ease of movement, something like a beetle’s wing-covers. Called the “Flying Suit,” it has a base to stand on, but it’s not clear how the suit transports the driver, er, wearer, or if they fly standing up, or… how?
The next two outfits are similar, yet different. The first of the two has, of course, a BMW logo on each ‘ski’ (these float on a magnetic band) and a white winged suit. This way the easy ‘City-skings’ can be used and if the wind is blowing, a simple arm movement makes sails that can add speed to the journey. The second one is very similar but the skings look rather triangular and there are poles to use, but it’s not clear how they transport the driver.
There are other outfits that have wheels sewn in them. See them all here.

Must Have Items for Car Trips

Car trips especially long, lengthy ones can be extremely frustrating. You are stuck in a small enclosed space for a long period of time, without the ability to be able to get out and move around.

While it is extremely likely that you are going to feel a bit claustrophobic while you are on a road trip there are some tips and items that are must haves when you go for a car ride that will make those long trips seem to fly by.

Here are the must have essential road trip items.

1. Pillows. Pillows are a must have item for the passenger. While it won’t help the driver the passenger needs to be just as comfortable as before. Pillows are a great way to get a bit of added sleep while the other person drive. They also come in pretty handy if you stop at a hotel and don’t want to use their pillows!

2. Snacks. Packing your own snacks can actually save time while you are on a trip. You won’t have to stop as often to pick up food at stores and you’ll be able to snack away while you are driving. Try picking some snacks that are easy to pack in the car and can be eaten quickly.

3. Maps. Maps are essential. Although you might have that GPS system, you can still get lost and it won’t be able to help you out at all. Take some physical maps that you can pull out at any time. You’ll avoid the frustration of getting lost while out on the road.

4. Music. Music makes everything seem to go by quicker. Pick some of your favorite music hits and be able to play them while you are driving. Music can also be a great way to stay awake while at the wheel.

Did you Name Your Car?

Believe it or not, a surprisingly large number of people name their cars. While obviously the name of your automobile tends to say as much about you as it does about the car itself (such as the old granny who named her car “my little Petunia”), there is definitely some validity to the notion that a car deserves to have a name. If you are the type of person who does not tend to keep their cars very often, then it almost behooves you to name your vehicles. If nothing else, this makes it easier to keep track of them, when you mention which one you were in during a particular interesting story. “Yeah, that was back when I was driving Jagermeister around – yeah, the one with the huge spoiler and no seat belts.” The car you drive says a lot of different things about you. So why shouldn’t your car have some sort of a name about it?

If you have ever been in contact with military people, you have most likely noticed that they like to name things. Naming things gives them a sort of comforting personification – probably a very big deal, if the vehicle in question may end up saving your life on 1,001 different occasions. Another theory as to why people so obsessively name their ships and planes with traditionally with female names is the idea that they do not want to be “inside” of a guy. While that is a slightly crass interpretation (and women often assign male names to their vehicles), it may have some validity to it.

So, do you name your cars? Have you ever brought home a car and thought, “I believe you are Death Machine, as we will hit many people together?” Or perhaps you are a sweetheart who always obeys the traffic laws, and names their car “Dudley Do Right” or “Excalibur.” As we already talked about, the car you drive (and what you name that car) says a lot of different things about how you are. So, what are you going to name your car?
